This Tutorial to add Captions to FLVs uses the MediaPlayback Components
So for developers who like to use components when placing FLVs in a web site, this tutorial is for you.

An even easier tutorial than the one i posted on the 26th. The tutorial i posted earlier uses code that extends XML to save code, but it’s not easy to implement unless you’re at and intermediate to advanced actionscript coder, that understands classes and extending classes.
This tutorial loads in XML plain and simple. I think more intermediate and maybe some beginner actionscript coders can implement this code.

To make video more accessible, captions work very well. Having captions in a video help people who can not hear the video. But also it helps people who may be in a library or a public place where sound is turned off on their computer or device.
Flash video makes the solution to this problem very easy. Using Flash video “cue points” can be set in a video. Then XML can be used to output captions into Flash with the video.
This tutorial explains an easy way to do this.

Toronto has an Accessibility/ Usability conference, 25 October 2006.
I found this blog about what one of the speakers - Rami Tabbah, Managing Director, Ergonaute Consulting.
The speaker references this resource page on WebAIM http://www.webaim.org/
Also this PDF of a Powerpoint slide presentation shows some statistics about Accessibility. More importantly i saw the way this speaker makes a connection between Money and Accessibility. Money is the ultimate motivator in the business world, and a potential $175 Billion is a big motivator. He also says that 35 Million people who have Accessibility issues in the USA alone. I will be using these statistics on the site

the Blog has been updated by Andrew Kirkpatrick since 01 May 2006.
He has links to Adobe livedocs, and research on testing accessibility in Flash and Flex
(from: http://www.w3.org/2006/09/aria-pressrelease.html) >> [”As people are demanding more from the Web - more information, more responsive applications and richer experiences - an explosion in technologies that exclude access to many people is growing. This new suite of documents being rolled out is significant because they will help developers gain access to the tools needed to support persons with disabilities on the Web,” explained Rich Schwerdtfeger, IBM Distinguished Engineer and author of the WAI-ARIA Roadmap. “ARIA is our first step to bring the richer, dynamic Web content experience to all users of the Web, by providing technology enhancements and examples for better, more accessible implementations.”]
Not once in this road map is Flash mentioned. The W3C mentions hybrid scripting languages but nothing about Flash or actionscript. The accessibility issues that arrise in these languages also appear in Flash content. Maybe they feel that there is enough information about Flash out there already, I doubt it. Or maybe they did not mention Flash because then they would be calling out Adobe Systems Incorporated directly. These other languages like AJAX and DHTML do not have any one company that releases new verisons of the language.
I have read a couple blogs by some developers who are concerned about how off-track the Flash web community is about web accessibility. Meaning that accessibility in Flash is not practiced as it should among the Flash development community.
